YOGA THERAPY--ITS SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

.

Abstract
The ancient classical Yoga appears to have been develol'ed as the method of control of mind and not as a method of therapy. Yoga therailY is an extraneous outgrowth of Yoga. However, in view of the works of medieval period on Hathayoga and the claims of many Yoga practitioners, it will be useful to evaluate the value of Yoga as a therapy. However, the present experience indicates the Yoga therapy may not he applicable to all diseases. It appears to be of limited value and can be of use only in functional disorders. Yoga therapy cannot be developed independently as it has no diagnostic methods of its own. Yoga therapy has to depend on the core science of medicine for its growth.
